Performance of serial concatenated convolutional code in Rayleigh multipath fading channel

This paper presents the performance of serial concatenated convolutional code (SCCC) in a frequency-selective Rayleigh fading (FSRF) channel. The channel is modeled as a two-ray Rayleigh fading channel. The Max-Log-MAP algorithm is used for the equalizer and the Benedetto approach is used for iterative decoding. The effect of correlated fading on the performance of the proposed system is investigated at mobile speeds 5 km/h and 100 km/h. Performance of SCCC is found to degrade significantly at low mobile speed. Results are also compared with the performance in the AWGN channel.
