Selection of Free Parameters in Two-Stage Design Procedure for Pole Placement using Output Feedback

In the two-stage design procedure for pole placement using output feedback, a certain number of parameters of the feedback matrix are normally selected arbitrarily in the first stage. Constraints which have to be imposed in the selection of these parameters to carry out the two-stage design procedure are presented in this paper. The free parameters selection procedure is illustrated with a numerical example.
