The interface between science education and technology education

This paper reflects on the growing importance of technology education in the school curriculum throughout the world. The nature of technology and its relationship to science are discussed. A series of models for technology education, ‘education in technology’, ‘education about technology’ and ‘education for technology’, are presented. The contribution of science education to these models is explored. A series of broad research questions are identified, an address to which would support a more effective relationship between science education and technology education.
