Atherosclerotic plaque composition: analysis with multicolor CT and targeted gold nanoparticles.

Use of the spectral CT imaging system with the gold high-density lipoprotein nanoparticle contrast agent can enable the detection of macrophages in atherosclerosis and imaging of the vasculature and calcified tissue at the same time.
