Applying HSM Network Screening Models to Louisiana Rural Two-Lane Highway Network

Highway Safety Management Process will be introduced in the first edition of Highway Safety Manual (HSM). This systematic process consists of several tasks starting with network screening. The purpose of network screening is to identify the locations with high potential in crash reduction through highway improvement projects. Nine screening methods are going to be presented in the network screening chapter of HSM and each of them has unique strength and weakness. It is interesting to see how each of these methods works on a large highway network from a real world study in addition to the application examples provided in the chapter.
