X-ray multilayer mirrors with an extended angular range

The shape of the reflection curve of depth-graded X-ray multilayer mirrors may be controlled in an angular region several times greater than the angular width of traditionally periodical X-ray multilayer mirrors. Mirrors of this type may be used in X-ray collimators, focusing devices and scanners. In addition, very narrow angular gaps in the reflection curves may be obtained, which may be useful in X-ray scattering physics. The kinematic theory of these mirrors in comparison with the results of numerical calculations based on the dynamic model, the technology and some experimental results are presented.
