Comparative Analysis on TEK Exchange between PKMv1 and PKMV2 for WiMAX

Abstract-TEK (Traffic Encryption Key) is used to ensure security of communication in WiMAX. Then after Authentication & Authorization of the Subscriber, the TEK exchange is required under AK (Authorization Key) protection. Now IEEE standard 802.16e has two key management protocol editions PKMv1 and PKMv2 to provide security support including AK exchange and TEK exchange. In this paper, the TEK exchange procedure will be described respectively according to PKMv1 and PKMv2, and the comparative analysis will be detailed also.
