Myosin Substructure: Isolation of a Helical Subunit from Heavy Meromyosin

A highly α-helical subunit has been isolated from the heavy-mero-myosin portion of myosin. This molecule has a helix content of about 73 percent and an amino acid composition similar to that of light meromyosin. The presence of this subunit supports the current view that the myosin molecule consists of a long helical rod with a globular region at one end.
