Estimating how the dynamic range and noise of the recording cameras affect the quality of digital holograms

This paper discusses how the characteristics of the recording cameras affect the reconstruction quality of digital holograms. Numerical modelling, using the characteristics of actual cameras, shows that the signal-to-noise ratio for diffuse objects is independent of the distance to the object and the form of the object and is determined only by the characteristics of the cameras and the relative area of the object. Quantitative estimates are obtained.
