Open IPTV services over NGN

IPTV service offers multimedia streaming services with security, reliability, and relevant quality of service (QoS)/quality of experience (QoE). It provides technical and business challenges to customers as well as network/service providers. It expects that the next generation network (NGN) environment provides the transport platform with high quality and high performance for IPTV services. The Web technologies can realize for customers to get and share IPTV contents. Web can provide an open, flexible, and agile platform. Therefore, in this paper, we propose open IPTV services based on Web platform within NGN environment and present functional architecture for open IPTV services. Technical issues for deploying the proposed IPTV services are also provided. The objective of this paper is to analyze the critical architectural issues for developing feasible service platform for open IPTV services.
