The paper proposes a switching algorithm for improving the efficiency of 3-phase direct AC/AC converter(MC; matrix converter), which is simulated using the PSIM(ver. 6). This AC/AC direct power conversion system is configured with bi-directional switches and without DC-link circuit. Higher power qualities in the input currents and the output voltages can be also obtained compared to the conventional power conversion system(indirect AC/AC converter). Using the proposed switching algorithm, the THD of input side and output side can be decreased and the voltage utility can be increased around 2.5%. It will be verified using the simulation that the proposed switching algorithm is effective.
