Evaluation of a Mobile Augmented Reality Game Application as an Outdoor Learning Tool

Thereisadiscussiononthepotentialofaugmentedreality(AR),mobiletechnologiestoenhance learning.Thisarticlepresents:1)theEduPARKproject’sfirstcycleofdesign-basedresearchfor thedevelopmentofamobileARgame-likeappthataimstopromotelearninginanurbanpark,and 2)anexperienceofstudentsusingitinloco.Thefocusisthestudents’perceptionsregardingthe usabilityand functionalityof theapp.Datacollection involved focusgroups,questionnairesand appusage information.Datawassubmitted tocontentanalysisanddescriptivestatistics.Results revealedanexcellentusabilityoftheEduPARKapp,withanaveragesystemusabilityscaleof85.6. Overall,studentsreportedthattheappwasenjoyable,easytouseandpromotedlearning;however, improvementsandmoreevaluationexperiencesareneededtobetterunderstandmobileARgamelikelearninginurbanparks.
