Method of Target Track Optimization in Doppler Blind Zone

Airborne early warning radars, which employ the pulse Doppler(PD) system, have good detection performance on low altitude detection, while its inherent Doppler blind zone can result in the targets in this zone being un-detected,which accordingly causes the target track to be terminated and of restarting batch.Aimed at the target tracking in Doppler blind zone,a method of target track optimization based on Doppler prediction is proposed in this paper.First, the reasons why the Doppler blind zone exists are analyzed, next,on the basis of traditional adaptive rule of track temporary disappearance,an optimized rule of temporary disappearance is proposed by combining with the plot prediction after the extended Kalman filter(EKF) processing, and then the ability of track maintenance is assessed by introducing a track quality score, and finally, the feasibility of this proposed rule are verified by simulation and experiments.
