Thumbs up for autocorrelation

The market for low cost automated biometric systems can best be described as emerging, with a vast range of diverse applications, just a few of which we touch on. Some of the new biometric technologies will doubtless fail in the competition for market share, just as the Bertillon system did in a previous time, and it seems unlikely that any single system will be pervasive across all applications. It is the author's view, however, that fingerprint recognition systems will win a significant portion of the non police market, if for no other reason than the filtering through of technology from that large and valuable market. The author focuses on automated fingerprint recognition systems and their use of the autocorrelation method.
