The Journal Literature of Business Librarianship

Abstract This study examined the journal literature of business librarianship over a twenty year period. A total of 542 articles were included in the study which examined the authorship of the articles, the journals in which they appeared, the subjects of the articles, and whether or not the article was research based. The journals with the most articles were the Business and Finance Division Bulletinand the Journal of Business and Finance Librarianship. The results show that over seventy percent of the articles had one specified author. Only fifteen percent of the articles could be categorized as research-based. The most prevalent subject of the articles was descriptions of programs and services for businesses, representing almost twenty-eight percent of the articles in the study.
