Crystalline electric field in the light (rare-earth)-Pd3 compounds determined by inelastic neutron scattering

Neutron inelastic scattering experiments have been carried out to measure the energies and widths of the crystalline electric-field transitions in the light (rare-earth)-Pd3 compounds. The crystal-field parameters have been determined for PrPd3 and NdPd3, while no crystal-field transitions have been observed in CePd3. The energies and widths of the observed crystal-field transitions are almost independent of temperature. The results are correlated in terms of reduced crystal-field parameters which provide an extrapolation scheme for all (rare-earth)-Pd3 compounds.
