Information Processes and the Reliability Characteristics of the Means for their Realization

In recent years, the automation of a number of processes in key industries such as metallurgy, metalworking, mechanical engineering, etc., has increased substantially. Even now different industrial sectors are working fully autonomous, without the need for human presence. At the same time, determining the execution time for certain processes, including those performed by computing devices or automated systems, is crucial for the organization of the overall production process. Moreover, any delay or interruption is associated with significant economic losses. Therefore, there is a particular interest in proposing an approach capable of determining the dependence between the execution time of the automation processes (running on the automated and computing systems) and the reliability characteristics of their elements. This study provides a method based on the performance time of information processes, taking into account the impact of the reliability characteristics of the means for their realization. In the context of this definition, the proposed approach is invariant in terms of the type of information process being implemented, as can be seen from the theoretical background of the research problem. In this study an approach is also proposed to reduce the impact of short-term interruptions by breaking the information process realization into separate, equal in duration, segments.
