MANET Congestion Alerting and Adapting Protocols- A Comparative Study

The nodes contained in the MANETs can be constantly in motion. So, they can leave a particular location of at some time by disconnecting the existing links and can get reconnected to the network after sometime by regaining the connection with its adjacent nodes. When the number of nodes in these networks are very massive in number, there comes the case of congestion or also called as bottlenecks. These resulting bottlenecks can not only cause delays in the delivery of route information but also can lead to the over utilization of memory, energy consumption and computational resources. This review paper give the overview of the causes of bottlenecks and their avoidance once when it is occurred. From this paper, we attempted to give the cause of congestion in the network and reviewed the working mechanism of various protocols to mitigate the overheads and abate the bandwidth usage. A comparative study is performed by analysing the detailed study of the Congestion routing protocols of MANETs.
