Cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna with perpendicular slots — A novel geometry explored

In this paper cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna with a perpendicular slots excited by probe feeding is proposed. The proposed geometry offers an impedance bandwidth from 6.96 GHz to 12.45 GHz (S11 below −10 dB), exciting a TM01δ mode, with maximum peak gain of 4.35 dBi in the available bandwidth range. The structure of proposed cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna is made up of commercially available fr-4 (lossy) having dielectric constant 4.3(tan δ=0.002). The main purpose behind this work is to observe the effect of addition of slots in cylindrical dielectric resonator, how addition of slots affect the impedance bandwidth, gain and efficiency.
