Abstract Computer Assisted Learning, using self-teaching packages in a simulation mode, is a relatively new and interesting medium of teaching. Within the context of the project Computers in the Undergraduate Science Curriculum, part of the aim of the evaluation has been to assess the contribution this kind of CAL can make to the enhancement of student learning. The evaluation techniques used are described, together with some conclusions about the nature of the learning that CAL can provide.
