On Amga (Amgi) Korgan In The Inscriptions Of Bilge Khan And Köl Tigin

In this article, an emphasis has been laid upon the place names amga korgan ~ amgı korgan which were written in two different forms and which appear on the 31st line east face of the Inscription of Bilge Khan as well as on the 8th line of the north face of the Inscription of Köl Tigin. It has been suggested that the word amga ~ amgı, forming the first part of the place name, could be ‘wild mountain goat’, and that this place mentioned in the Dokuz Oguz wars, could be somewhere in the east or north-east of Orhon and Tula rivers. ∗ Yrd.
