It is shown analytically that nonlinear distortions are induced by stimulated Brillouin scattering in subcarrier multiplexed systems. They are expressed as a function of the additional loss of the transmission fibre which is induced by stimulated Brillouin scattering. Experimental results well support the theoretical conclusions.
