INHIBIT logic gate based on spiropyran sensitized semiconductor electrode

Abstract Design and synthesis of molecular logic gates have attracted a great deal of interest, because logic gates can convert chemical, electrical, and optical inputs into detectable outputs. Two spiropyran derivatives Dye1 and Dye2 were synthesized and showed obvious photochromic properties in solution and on the Langmuir films. Moreover, they were used as photosensitizers of semiconductor electrode for photoelectrochemical cell. Using the photocurrent as output signal, an INHIBIT logic gate was successfully fabricated with two input signals of UV and vis light.
