A vehicle positioning and navigation system design using Mini2440 ARM and Linux

In this paper, we investigate the design and development of a positioning and navigation system using Mini2440 ARM and Linux for mobile vehicles. We comprehensively present the hardware design and software development of GNSS receiver module, map-matching and overall embedded real-time positioning and navigational system. A functional platform shown that the system works well in scenarios of GNSS signals and current 3G data transmission networks in Vietnam. Practical results show that having a limited processing ability, mini2440 ARM fulfils our expectations of fundamental functions from receiving and processing positioning data to display current position, moving history, and navigating vehicle movement on the touchable screen.
