Strategic Alternatives and Inter-organizational System Implementations: An Overview

Abstract:The potential strategic importance of information systems is now an accepted fact. The context of this importance, however, transcends traditional data processing, user functional departments, and, more importantly, organizational boundaries. Inter-organizational information systems (ios) that automate the flow of information interchange across organizational boundaries are made possible by technological advances in data communications. This paper discusses a range of strategic options and ios implementations.
