COMPUTER CONTROLLED FAULT CURRENT LIMITER (CCFCL)

A computer-controlled fault-current limiter is proposed. The design of the CCFCL provides an effective reduction in the short-circuit current during the fault. It is controlled by a microprocessor which guaranties an accurate adjustment of the short-circuit impedance to be inserted under fault. The transient behavior of the CCFCL is studied by the EMTP. In general, the CCFCL is inexpensive, reliable and can be modified to accommodate future changes or expansions.
