System and method for local deformable motion analysis of a wall of the left ventricle of a heart

A system and method for local deformable motion analysis and for accurately tracking the movement of an object under insulation of local motion of an object of a global motion of an object is described. The object is observed in an image sequence, and sequences of images are scanned to identify object image regions and background image regions. The movement of at least one of the identified background image regions is estimated to those background image regions is estimated to identify those background image regions that are affected by global motion. Motion from multiple background image regions is combined in order to measure the global motion in that image frame. The measured global motion in the object image areas is compensated in order to measure local motion of the object, and the local motion of the object is tracked. A system and method for accurately measuring the local deformable motion of an object as the relative movement between two sets of control is described. The sets of points are defined as the inner contour and the outer contour of an object. The movement of the control point records is estimated, and the relative movement is used to characterize the local deformation and local motion of the object.
