Anisotropy analysis for particle systems

This paper discusses some methods for the quantitative description of anisotropy of planar structures. These methods can be applied to systems of particles randomly distributed. It is also possible to detect anisotropics in particle arrangements. Finally, a simple Monte Carlo test of an isotropy hypothesis is suggested. The methods are applied to a planar section of a Cd‐Zn eutecticum with clear anisotropy both in particle orientation and arrangement.
