Effects of Substituents on UV Spectra of Aniline and Anilinium Ion Derivatives. Hammett Correlations

T h e electronic spect ra of several aniline and ani l inium ion derivati ves have been s tudied. T h e spect ra l d a t a permit ted the ob ten t ion of the protonat ion reaction constant of aniline using the H a m m e t t correlat ion a n d provided in format ion about the influence (if a §ÊCOfU| SlifëlitUciit ôii the abso rp t ion bands o f these bases. The s t ructura l character and the posit ion of the absorption hands depend on the n a t u r e of t he solvent.
