Assembly strategies for millimeter wave horn antennas

Assembly and integration process of a 18–45 GHz ridge horn antenna fabricated as a two part configuration is described. Impact of air gap between the metal parts of the horn antenna is investigated and impact of the leakage of fields into the air gap is shown. Measures to mitigate the RF leakage from the horn body using pin wall are discussed as part of the assembly. Experimental validation of impact of two part approach on antenna performance is also shown.
