Proton NMR studies of paramagnetic polypyridyl. mu. -oxo complexes of ruthenium(III) and their diamagnetic ruthenium(II) precursors

Results of paramagnetic /sup 1/H NMR spectral studies on some polypyridyl complexes containing the Ru/sup III/-O-Ru/sup III/ unit and their Ru(II) precursors are presented. The results allow assignment of the proton spectra of the oxo-bridged complexes and demonstration that paramagnetic NMR techniques can provide a valuable probe for explaining the underlying substitutional chemistry. 11 references, 2 figures, 3 tables.
