PENGARUH KOMPENSASI DAN MOTIVASI KERJA TERHADAP KINERJA KARYAWAN PERUSAHAAN DAERAH AIR MINUM (PDAM) SURAKARTA

The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) whether or not there
is a significant effect of the work compensation on the work performance of the
employees of the Regional Water Company of Surakarta, if available, count and
analyze how much its effect is; (2) whether or not there is a significant effect of
the work motivation on the work performance of the employees of the Regional
Water Company of Surakarta, if available, count and analyze how much its effect
is; and (3) whether or not there is a significant effect of the work compensation
and work motivation on the work performance of the employees of the Regional
Water Company of Surakarta, if available, count and analyze how much the effect
is.
This research used the descriptive quantitative method. It was conducted at
the Regional Water Company of Surakarta. The population of the research was
413 employees of the company. The samples of the research consisted of 41
employees. The samples were taken by using the proportionate stratified random
sampling technique. The data of the research were gathered through questionnaire
and documentation. The validity and reliability of the data were tested by using
Pearson’s product moment formula and Cronbach’s alpha formula respectively.
They were then analyzed by using bivariate analysis technique (Pearson’s product
moment correlation, and simple linear regression analysis) and multivariate
analysis technique (multiple linear regression analysis).
The results of the analysis are as follows: (1) the effect of the work
compensation on the work performance of the employees is shown by the
regression line equation of Y = 29.699 + 0.355X, and the significance value of
tcount = 2.114 > that of ttable = 1.686; (2) the effect of the work motivation on the
work performance of the employees is indicated by the regression line equation of
Y = 23.660 + 0.487X, and the significance value of tcount = 2.864 > that of ttable =
1.686; and (3) the simultaneous effect of the work compensation and work
motivation on the work performance of the employees is pointed out by the
regression line equation of Y = 20.523 + 0.149 X1 + 0.402 X2, and the significance
value of Fcount = 4.359 > that of Ftable = 3.245 at the significance level of 5%. The
relative contribution and the effective contribution of X1 to Y are 23.11% and
4.32% respectively, and the relative contribution and the effective contribution of
X2 to Y are 76.89% and 14.38% respectively.
Based on the results of the analysis, conclusions are drawn that: (1) there
is a significant effect of the work compensation on the work performance of the
employees of the Regional Water Company of Surakarta; (2) there is a significant
effect of the work motivation on the work performance of the employees of the Regional Water Company of Surakarta; and (3) there is a simultaneously
significant effect of the work compensation and work motivation on the work
performance of the employees of the Regional Water Company of Surakarta.
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: 1) adakah pengaruh yang
signifikan kompensasi terhadap kinerja karyawan PDAM Surakarta dan jikalau ada,
menghitung serta menganalisis seberapa besar pengaruhnya, 2) adakah pengaruh
yang signifikan motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan PDAM Surakarta dan
jikalau ada, menghitung serta menganalisis seberapa besar pengaruhnya, 3) adakah
pengaruh yang signifikan kompensasi dan motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan
PDAM Surakarta dan jikalau ada, menghitung serta menganalisis seberapa besar
pengaruhnya.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian diskriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian dilakukan
di Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum (PDAM) Surakarta dengan populasi seluruh
karyawan yang berjumlah 413 karyawan. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 41
karyawan diambil dengan menggunakan teknik Proportionate Stratified Random
Sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode kuesioner dan
dokumentasi. Uji validitas dan reliabilitas data menggunakan formula korelasi
product moment dari pearson dan cronbach’s alpha. Teknik analisis data yang
digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis adalah analisis bivariat (korelasi product moment
pearson dan analisis regresi linier sederhana) dan analisis multivariat (analisis regresi
linier berganda).
Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh kompensasi terhadap
kinerja karyawan ditunjukkan dengan persamaan garis regresi Y= 29,699 + 0,355X
dan nilai keberartian thitung > ttabel atau 2,114 > 1,686, pengaruh motivasi kerja
terhadap kinerja karyawan ditunjukkan dengan persamaan garis regresi Y= 23,660 +
0,487X dan nilai keberartian thitung > ttabel atau 2,864 > 1,686, pengaruh kompensasi
dan motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan ditunjukkan dengan persamaan garis
regresi Y= 20,523 + 0,149 X1 + 0,402 X2 dan nilai keberartian Fhitung > Ftabel atau
4,359 > 3,245 pada taraf signifikansi 5%. Besarnya sumbangan relatif dan sumbangan
efektif untuk X1 terhadap Y sebesar 23,11% dan 4,32%, sedangkan X2 terhadap Y
sebesar 76,89% dan 14,38%.
Simpulan penelitian ini adalah: 1) ada pengaruh yang signifikan kompensasi
terhadap kinerja karyawan PDAM Surakarta, 2) ada pengaruh yang signifikan
motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan PDAM Surakarta, dan 3) ada pengaruh
yang signifikan kompensasi dan motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan PDAM
Surakarta. Motivasi kerja memiliki pengaruh yang lebih besar terhadap kinerja
karyawan PDAM Surakarta dibanding dengan kompensasi.
