Fault line and phase selection based on traveling wave and dual-tree complex wavelet

In view of the shortcomings like fault line selection based on β、γ modulus of distribution system with non-effectively neutral grounded(NNG) is cumbersome, fault line selection based on phase current traveling wave can not select fault phase, and DWT lacks of shift invariance and phase information, based on the study result of current initial traveling wave, this paper deduces the ratio relationship of β、γ modulus, uses dual-tree complex wavelet transform as a tool to characterize the initial traveling wave characteristics, and presents the fault line and phase selection based on traveling wave and dual-tree complex wavelet. The algorithm can analyze faults by using amplitude and phase of modulus maxima of traveling wave which are decomposed by DT CWT.It is clear and can be applied widely. It also overcomes the shortcomings of DWT and makes the results of the fault line and phase selection more accurate and reliable. Finally,a large number of simulation examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the method with Matlab.
