Demagnetization Analysis of Mechanical Manipulation on Permanent Magnets

This work comprises a study on the influences of mechanical manipulation on the magnetic field of permanent magnets. The focus lies in an analysis of resulting volume-demagnetization effects. This is brought out in a comparison between simulation results, based on analytical shape variation, and a magnetic position experiment. In the study, it was found that the datasheet remanence field values are overestimated by more than 30 % by the manufacturer, and that magnetic field attenuation resulting from demagnetization due to the mechanical manipulation is below 4 % for the chosen polymer bound Neodymium material.
