Between the years 1987-1989, in Oepartment of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of SSK Istanbul Hospital sixteen feet of fiften patients with hallux valgus were treated by in addition to proximal osteotmy of first metatarsal, bunionectomy, lateral and adductor release of metatarsaphalangeal joint and capsuloraphy. There were five male and ten female patients and mean age was 31.06 years (range 15-43 years). Ten feet could be controlled again and mean follow up was 16.1 months. On evaluation of results, objective and subjective criteria of Gluckert and et. al. (1984) were used. There were 7 excellent and 3 poor results. As a result, We think of, this operation can be performed to the patients under 40 years old, with no arthrosis of metatarsophalangeal joint and metatarsus primus varus angle more than 1 0°, but pain and joint stifness after operation should be also kept in view.
