An Application of MBD Based Inspection in Cloud Manufacturing

The separation of manufacturing processes in cloud manufacturing makes it difficult for the transmission of information from upstream process to downstream process. To build the information link throughout manufacturing processes, an application of MBD (Model Based Definition) based inspection was put forward. Taking advantage of MBD, the information of design, manufacturing and inspection could be capsulated in a 3D model, which can be taken as the unified information sharing platform for manufacturing service suppliers in cloud manufacturing. The integrated framework for design, manufacturing and inspection based on MBD was put forward. An information model of inspection processes based on MBD was constructed. With the support of the framework and the information model, an integrated inspection system in cloud manufacturing was developed. The architecture, function and application workflow were demonstrated in this paper. Finally, a case study was given to expound the application of the system.
