Response Surface Approximation을 활용한 Falling Film Evaporator Separator 최적설계

Optimization of a separator of a falling film evaporator has been conducted by using response surface approximation. The problem is to find the objective function values, maximum collection efficiency and minimum pressure drop in the separator. For this purpose, the relationship between four different design variables as vessel diameter, inlet nozzle diameter, outlet nozzle diameter, vessel height and objective function values have been analyzed by numerical simulation. 30 different design cases have been selected by latin hypercube sampling in the design space. SST model has been employed as a turbulence model and wall y plus has been limited to under 5. The response surface approximation was used to construct an approximation function for objective values and its accuracy was verified. Optimum design shape predicted by approximation function showed that the increased collection efficiency and decreased pressure drop by comparison with original separator. Through the research, optimization methods can be used in many other areas where there are expensive experiments and evaluations for engineering design.
