VSB communication system and method of processing data in a VSB communication system

PURPOSE: A system for VSB communication and a method for processing data in the same are provided to transmit MPEG data and additional data altogether without errors by using preliminarily defined sequence and multiplexing information. CONSTITUTION: A system for VSB(Vestigial Side Band) communication includes the Reed-Solomon encoder(1) encoding additional data, a data interleaver(2) interleaving the encoded additional data to improve performance related to burst noise, a null sequence inserting part(3) inserting null sequence into the additional data, an MPEG header inserting part(4) adding an MPEG header to the null sequence inserted additional data, a multiplexor(5) multiplexing the additional data and MPEG data and transmitting to an 8T-VSB transmission system(6), the 8T-VSB transmission system transmitting the processed data to a receiving system.
