Thispartofthepaperanalyzes theperformance of thyristor valves underanassumed overvoltage situation. It showsthatthenewdesigns canresult ina saving inthe thyristor valve cost. Thepaper also discusses theimportance of various factors whichmustbe included inthedesign optimization. Finally an efficient modelforstatic compensators isproposed forpowersystems loadflowand transient stability digital simulation.
