EMTP Studies of UPFC Power Oscillation Damping

|This paper describes the basic operation, control and applications of a Uni ed Power Flow Controller (UPFC), as well as the detail model used to simulate this controller on the Electromagnetic Transient Stability Program (EMTP). To demonstrate the potential of the controller under dynamic conditions, particularly for power oscillation damping control, an 11-bus test system is used to simulate a large fault in close proximity to the UPFC. Controller design issues and EMTP simulation results are discussed in detail.
