Distributing Limit Protection between Autonomous Restraint and Voluntary Tactile Cues

Limit protection mechanisms can interface with a vehicle control loop at several points. Modern flight control systems can now include autonomous limit protection to ameliorate dangerous pilot commands. But these automatic mechanisms alter the pilot's commands. Tactile limit avoidance cues can provide a voluntary protection mechanism that the pilot can choose to follow or override. This paper describes methods that split the limit protection between autonomous command restraint shaping and voluntary tactile cues.
