Ringing response of jack-up platforms

This report contains results from nonlinear dynamic response analysis of a jack-up platform. The main emphasis is on the transient resonant response due to higher order wave loading (the ringing response). The response analysis is performed in time domain using measured sea surface elevation from model tank experiments. These sea surface elevations have been found to give ringing response in large volume structures. The main objective of this study is to identify whether or not the resonant response of the drag-dominated jack-up platform generated by the applied wave model is of the ringing type. Furthermore, the influence of different load parameters and dynamic characteristics of the platform to the resonant response are investigated.
