give a shorter and simpler treatment of the question, and one which, we think, makes clearer the difference between Hume and his contemporary critic Price. Our analysis is based on a general Bayesian account of testimony given by Dawid.2 In the course of expounding it, we shall explain the points where it differs from the earlier analyses of Sobel and Owen.
