Statistical Properties of Aircraft Piston Engine Monitor CM Data

Aircraft piston engine can be monitored using modern engine monitors that help increase engine reliability by providing timely preventive maintenance as well as operating efficiency in terms of fuel efficiency and decreased maintenance costs. Such engine monitors produce vast amount of data regarding engine parameters that are usually presented in graphical form. By analyzing statistical properties of this condition monitoring data it is possible to extract relevant information that is needed when designing automatic fault detection systems. This paper shows results of statistical analysis of condition monitoring data present in engine monitor logs.
