Artificial double negative (DNG) media composed by two different dielectric sphere lattices embedded in a dielectric matrix

The periodic composite medium consisting of two lattices of different dielectric spherical particles bas been investigated analytically and numerically. It is shown that effective isotropic double negative media (DNG) can be realized in the frequency region where resonance of TM mode in one kind of particles and TE mode in another kind of particles are presented simultaneously. In contrast to recently reported results where magnetodielectric materials were required, the medium suggested can be composed by the non-magnetic materials. Ferroelectric single crystal or ceramic samples with the dielectric constant about 1000 can be used as a material for manufacturing the spherical particles.
