Economic Dispatch Application of Power System With Energy Storage Systems

In order to ensure the security, the stability and the economic operation of the power grid, the energy storage system had been widely used in the power system. By regulating the power and the operation state, the flexibility of network is increased actively, so that the economic dispatch purpose of power network is achieved. First, in this paper, the power, the capacity, the state maintenance time, the ramp rate, and other constraints of the energy storage system were considered in the study, combining with the output of wind turbine, the open downtime, and other constraints. The steady state model of the energy storage system and the unit commitment model were built. Forecasting the wind power output, the scenario analysis method was applied to optimize the total power generation cost in the power system. In the case of the wind power connected to the grid, the power grid economy with the large-scale energy storage system is boosted. At last, the practical example, considering the effects of energy storage system on the wind power generation and wind power generation and the purpose balancing the load distribution of wind turbine and reducing the cost of power generation, was analyzed. The results show that the models proposed in this paper can be successfully applied to the standard network and the generator output and the system operating cost are optimized under the condition of the research of this paper.
