As technologies change it is important to have a range of generic and tailored tools to support the planning of Next Generation Networks. This paper describes a new network planning tool that integrates measurement, modelling and simulation capabilities in order to provide network planners with the tools required to migrate from existing technologies to Next Generation Networks based on IP and MPLS modes of working. Novel features include generation of traffic demands from service descriptions and routing based on service requirements with queueing and flow models for determining bottlenecks and analysis of failure scenarios.
