Turbine-Generator Shaft Torques and Fatigue: Part III - Refinements to Fatigue Model and Test Results

Refinements to the models and procedures for the calculation of torsional fatigue damage to turbogenerator shafts are presented. This is a continuation of work which has been reported in two previous papers. The fatigue model has been improved by the addition of stress concentration effects and a rain-flow cycle counting technique has been implemented. The tests reported in the previous papers are repeated using the new techniques. The conclusion drawn remain essentially unmodified.
