Smart Weighted Compact Scheme for Shock Tube and Shock-Entropy Interaction

Based on our previous work on the weighted compact scheme (WCS), a smart weighted compact scheme (SWCS) has been developed. The new scheme includes a new smart filter, shock detector, and a new weight function. The results for the shock tube and shock-entropy interaction have been compared with the standard 5th order WENO scheme and both higher resolution and sharper shock capturing have been achieved. The new scheme may be very useful for DNS or LES of the shock-boundary layer interaction.
