History of the Machine Tools Industry Committee

THE U.S. as an industrialized society, has the machine tool industry as one of its foundations. Within the Industry Applications Society (IAS), the Machine Tools Industry Committee (MTI) represents the machine and tool industry from an electrical engineering point of view. The MTI committee had its origin within the American Institute of Electrical En-gineers (AIEE) having its first annual conference in 1948. The primary activity of the MTI committee is to provide a technicalforum for electrical engineering subjects related to machine tools. This forum takes the form of a technical conference. An annual event until the National Machine Tool Builders Association (NMTBA) show became a biannual event in 1970, the MTI committee has their technical conference on alternate years to the NMTBA show. The 26th Machine Tools Industry Conference was held October 18-20, 1983 in Milwaukee, WI. The MTI technical conference (forum) reflects the state of the art in electrical engineering for the machine tool industry. Technical papers presented at these conferences are usually
